Fine Grapes Wine

Have you ever taken a stroll down the wine isle of your local grocery store? Sitting nearly back to back (or label to label) you will often find a price difference that would nearly cover the cost of your weekly grocery tab!

After you get over the initial sticker shock, have you ever considered just what differentiates a fine wine from a “cheap” alternative? Believe it or not, there are many subtle differences between a fine wine and a more run of the mill variety that you may not have been aware of… For instance, did you know that:

Fine wines have:
Grapes with a high amount of fermentable sugar

Ordinary Wines:
Are lacking in fermentable sugar and often use artificial substitutes

Fine wines have:
Grapes with naturally strong flavor

Ordinary Wines:
Moderate to low natural flavors

Fine wines have:
High quality grape skins to color the wine

Moderate Wines:
Use artificial dye to enhance the color

Grapes are the most commonly used ingredient for wine simply because of its most beneficial attribute, the tannins found in the seeds and skin. Interesting… But why is this important? Tannin is what assists in the proper aging of wine.

While there are many grape species, only a limited amount are refined to deliver the maximum aroma and flavor that wine lovers crave.

So much care and thought goes into the production and creation of a finely aged wine. The skin color, tone, and firmness must be just right to produce a wine that will be remembered by many.

Fine grape wines can vary significantly in price, but any lower than $25 and you risk missing out on the full experience that a properly aged and carefully selected wine has to offer.

While this is not to say that you cannot find good taste or a pleasurable experience with lower cost varieties; a bottle of fine grape wine is something everyone should have an opportunity to experience.

The next time you’re comparing labels and trying to decide just which bottle to bring home for the evening, why not splurge just a bit, and treat yourself to an experience that you are sure to remember. Your taste buds (And the person you choose to share the bottle with) will thank you for it.
