Home Bar Lighting
If you have ever been to a bar yourself, you know that the lighting of the bar is one thing that helps create the ambiance. Different bars use different lighting styles in order to match the types of visitors they hope to draw in.
For example, many pubs use not-very-bright florescent lighting, because it is known to make time appear to not be moving very quickly. When you want individuals in your bar for a long period of time, you want to ensure they are not thinking about the time of day.
Similarly, more modern bars often use colors, such as blue tinted lighting, as it helps add energy to the atmosphere.
When you have a home bar, you will likely want to use a certain type of lighting that fits the ambiance you are trying to create.
Different Types of Home bar Lighting
The first thing you want to consider is “what kind of bar you are” – that is, if your home bar was a real bar, what type of bar do you think you would want? A Sports bar? A Tavern? A dance club?
Each of these has its own separate lighting style. Sports bars tend to be brighter so people can watch the game and joke with their friends. Taverns have a darker tint, and dance clubs are even darker but often have black lights or neon lights.
Most proper bar lighting comes in the form of small lamps as well, like those seen over billiard tables. The light always goes straight down, rather than up, because you want to have only the amount of light you need to see, nothing more. However, if you are going with black lighting, you will likely want bigger, more spaced lamps in order to keep the area darker.
Bar lighting almost always hangs directly from ceilings, so choose something that matches the ambiance you are trying to create, because the lamp itself is always going to be incredibly visible even in the dark.
When all these things come together, you can easily create some home bar lighting that you and your friends will enjoy.
