Although it is one of the most difficult punches to create, the South Pacific Island Rum Punch is sure to be a big hit with all of your guests. Using several bottles of rum and serving as many as 25 or more, this recipe is both a party’s dream and worst nightmare, as your guest are sure to have such a good time that you may never be able to follow it up.
Pour all of the rum into the container – do not use a metal container as these ingredients are going to be sitting for quite a while. Slowly mix in the sugar and the vanilla bean and continue stirring until sugar has completely dissolved. Once gone, cut the oranges, lemons and grapefruit in halves and squeeze as much juice as you can out of the flesh before tossing the rinds. Peel and slice the bananas and pineapple and add them into the rum, covering the entire concoction and keeping it in a cool/cold place for two or three full days. At least 3 to 5 times each day you should stir the mix to make sure the ingredients are not separating.
Once you are going to serve the punch, try to get all of solid ingredients out (removing the pulp, vanilla beans, and anything else floating inside) and pour all of the liquid into a punch bowl filled with ice.
Only when you are about to serve the dish should you add all of the wine and decorate the edges with oranges and grapefruit.
Not many people want a punch that takes almost 3 days and a lot of work to make, but the South Pacific Island Rum Punch is worth the time when you are willing to dedicate yourself for making it. The fruit flavored rum is more than enough to please the entire crowd, and the time it takes to age it is worth the wait.
In addition, the heavy amounts of alcohol are sure to warm your body and your spirit, and the dark brown sugar adds a taste that makes it a unique creation compared to the faster made punch options. Overall, the South Pacific Island Rum Punch in an incredible dish that is sure to please all those that have a chance to taste it.
