Mocktail Recipes
Mocktails are, quite simply, mock versions of cocktails that don’t contain any alcohol. They’re great for family occasions and are perfect to serve to party guests who don’t drink alcohol, and they’re sure to be appreciative that you went to so much trouble.
In many cases, mocktails can be made simply by leaving the alcohol out of usual cocktail recipes, but for a few specific mocktail recipes, read on.
Baby Bellini
The classic peach and champagne cocktail can be easily transformed into a mocktail version, giving all the taste and class without the alcohol. Just pour two measures of peach nectar into a champagne flute and top with sparkling cider to taste.
Virgin Pina Colada
This tropical favourite is made virgin by simply blending pineapple juice, cream, milk and sugar with ice. It’s perfect for hot afternoons when it’s just that bit too early in the day for alcohol, and the quantities can easily be altered to taste.
Mocktail Margarita
This is a classic cocktail that’s just as tasty without alcohol as it is with. To make it, simply blend together a quarter of a cup of sour drink mix with a splash of lemon and lime juice and some ice, and pour into a margarita glass. To make it even more authentic you can salt the rim of the glass and garnish with a slice of lime.
Mocktail Fuzzy Navel
This is a particularly fruity cocktail, and being made with fruit juices makes it ideal to drink at any time of the day and is also particularly good for you. To make it simply pour half a cup of orange juice and half a cup of peach nectar over ice, and garnish with a mint leaf and an orange wedge.
Designated Appletini
This non-alcoholic version of the popular Appletini gives all the taste yet still allows you to drive home again after. To make it simply put apple juice, syrup and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker and shake until mixed. Pour into a sugared margarita glass and garnish with a wedge of apple.
Mocktail Mojito
To make this virgin version of the classic simply crush 4 mint leaves with 3 tablespoons of lemon or lime juice and 2 teaspoons of sugar. Add club soda to taste, stir and serve in a Collins glass garnished with a few mint sprigs.
These are just a few of the mocktail recipes out there, and there’s no reason why you can’t make virgin alternatives to all of your favourite cocktails. Have a go and see which ones you like best.
