Absinthe Effects

They refer to it as the green fairy coming to get you. It's absinthe. Drinking too much of it can have strong effects on a person. Some have called it a drink of mystery. Maybe that's because there's no real way to predict what will happen to you if you have too much.

The reason for this is the high level of thujone in absinthe.

Some who have had straight absinthe say the feeling initially is not like bring drunk. At first there is a little bit of an impairment, but your mind will be very clear and the world around you will sound, feel and look better and brighter. They also say this is a great time to touch things as your sense of touch is heightened. Those effects don't last too long, and then you switch into being drunk, as you are accustomed to with regular alcohol consumption.

According to science, there is not much difference between absinthe and other alcohol. It has a 70-80 % alcohol content, and has been created from a number of herbs.

For some time the famed 'mysterious' effects of absinthe caused it to be banned in many countries, but over time the stories faded, as did the bans. Today over 100 brands of absinthe are available.

It is considered extremely dangerous to consume too much Absinthe due to its high alcohol content - not due it it's supposed 'effects'
