Home Hangover Remedy
It's going to happen. You're going to have too much to drink here and there, and you're going to regret it the next morning So, how do you get through the painful hangover that you have given yourself? Let's take a look at some home remedies.
First, the best way to treat a hangover is to keep from getting it. There are some techniques that many use to try and avoid the hangover in the first place.
American Indians believe if you have at least 6 raw almonds before you start drinking, it will restrict your intoxication, and hangover the next day. An African preventative measure for hangovers is to eat peanut butter before you start drinking.
Other preventative measures include eating a meal with a lot of saturated fats, before you start drinking, taking B-vitamins, and drinking a lot of sports drinks or water before you go to sleep, to help replenish what the body is losing, and keep it in tip top shape.
Once you wake up with the hangover, we're into a whole different list of remedies.
First, you need to start to replenish what your body has lost while imbibing and burning the alcohol. This means you should drink juices like tomato and apple, or drink chicken broth. You should also eat foods that are going to give back to your body, like bananas or honey and crackers.
If you wake up with a pounding headache, you could take asprin, but it also may irritate an already unhappy stomach. Instead, you may want to try an herbal replacement, such as feverfew, or eat a little raw cabbage.
If you have an uneasy stomach, you can try ginger or ginger tea, peppermint tea, or chewing on peppermint leaves to sooth the nausea.
Finally, something you may not like the idea of…. exercise. While it seems the last thing you want to do when you hurt is exercise, getting your body in motion will get blood circulating, which will work the toxins out of your body more quickly and help you feel better.
