Where was Ginger Ale Invented
A little creativity with drink recipes brought about the birth of ginger ale in Ireland around 1851.
It’s a drink that started as a soft drink, but is now a popular mixer as well as a drink that’s recommended for some ailments.
The original ginger ale is what many today would call golden ginger ale. It was a much stronger flavored drink than the ginger ale you know today. But as people turned from ginger ale as a stand-alone drink, to making it a mixer, they decided the strong flavor was not complementary to most alcohols. So a new kind of ginger ale came about. It is the ginger ale we know today, with a much more subtle taste, called dry ginger ale.
In addition to being a mixer, ginger ale is also considered a great drink for a number of illnesses. From motion sickness to nausea and coughs ginger ale is often recommended as a way to feel better.
